WHO - WHAT - WHERE?Installing a Home Theatre SystemAs television technology continues to improve and top of the line units become affordable for the average family, more and more people are putting in home theatres. What exactly is a home theater ? Well, really there is no standard definition of what it is or must include. But most home theatres will have, at the very least, a television set or project and speakers at set points around the room. In fact, it is the speakers more than anything else that makes a home theatre. So, where do you start? You must begin, of course, with the television, preferably a large screen model. The most popular sets these days are plasmas, which have finally dropped in price enough so that most families can afford them. Just make certain the model you choose provides enough input cables to connect all of the necessary components. Next, you need to find a movie player. Again, the most recent and fashionable item on the market is the Blu-Ray player, but a standard DVD player will suffice. These devices are often easy enough to install and can be connected either through the television set or the cable box. After the television, movie player, and cable are all connected, you will need to set up the sound system. This is often the most difficult step in the process, so if you know someone who has experience, it may be a good idea to ask for their help. After all, stereo instructions are notoriously hard to follow and often a bit procrustean. Lastly, when it comes to seating for your home theatre, really anything goes. While some people choose to go all out and install actual movie theatre style seats, most folks are content with a regular divan or couch. |
